Customs Clearance to Import Communication Equipment
Who is eligible for this service?
Licensed importers of goods to Qatar.
Process Description
- Licensed importers of goods must submit to ictQATAR's Technical Regulatory Authority an application for customs clearance. Fees are charged at this time.
- Clearance for the import of radio-communications equipment will only be considered if the Technical Regulatory Authority has already issued the appropriate Frequency License Certificate.
- All imported communications equipment must be Type Approved by the Technical Regulatory Authority. If necessary, the applicant can initiate the Type Approval process at the same time the Customs Clearance application is submitted.
- The Technical Regulatory Authority will determine whether the requesting party has the necessary licenses, equipment Type Approvals and right to import the requested equipment. The Technical Regulatory Authority will recommend approval/rejection.
- If the application is approved, the Technical Regulatory Authority will prepare the Customs Clearance Certificate. Technical Regulatory Authority staff will meet with the applicant at the relevant port of entry (with the approved Customs Clearance Certificate) to inspect the equipment against the application before the equipment can be cleared for entry.
How long does the approval process take?
Provided all documentation is complete and correct - including the Type Approval Certificate - same working day service is available. Applications must be received before 9 am for same day service.
